Namun seiring berjalannya waktu dengan penguasaan teknologi pembudidayaan tebu yang semakin membaik, dan penguasaan teknologi produksi gula, maka PT GMP telah diakui sebagai pionir industri gula di luar Jawa, karena berhasil membuktikan industry gula yang efisien dari perkebunan tebu di luar Jawa.
